ElecTrekking Around Australia

Circumnavigation of Australia is a journey of 15,000km. Many of the locations that travellers want to visit are remote with long distances between destinations.

With the installation of a backbone of charging infrastructure throughout the nation, the country is now opening up for electric vehicle travel for the first time.

The nine month ElecTrek has been timed to coincide with the launch of the WA Electric Vehicle Highway, starting from Perth and completing the big lap of Australia in early 2024.

Synergy and Horizon Power in partnership with the Western Australian government are in the process of creating the WA EV Network, Australia’s longest electric vehicle charging network. Once completed, EV drivers will have access to charging stations at approximately 200km intervals across 49 locations, from Eucla at the South Australian border to Kununurra in the far north of Western Australia.

To complement this, the federal government in partnership with motoring group NRMA are building 117 new fast-charging stations to  connect more rural and regional parts of Australia.
